Toy Stuck on Tongue

Sasha, a beautiful, 9 year-old Weimaraner, presented for a large toy stuck on her tongue. Emergency vet, Dr. Meghan Glazer, sedated her to facilitate removal of the toy, but it turned out to be a much more involved process. Approximately 2/3 of her tongue was stuck in through a 2 cm hole - her tongue had limited circulation to it and had therefore become very swollen inside of the toy. We needed to slowly (and cautiously) cut away the toy away from her tongue.

Sasha did beautifully under anesthesia and recovered nicely. She also seemed very un-phased by the whole event!
